Penn Badgley is an American actor, who earned much prominence for his portrayal of Dan Humphrey in the TV series of Gossip Girls as well as in the film of The Stepfather. Badgley was born on November 1, 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was baptized with the real name of Penn Dayton Badgley and entered the Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma, Washington. He was also involved with the Seattle Children’s Theater. He then started on doing voice-overs for children’s radio stations. At the young age of 11, he moved to Hollywood and started his professional acting career and also his singing career. When he reached the age of 14, Badgley completed his California High School Proficiency Exam. He also entered the Santa Monica City College and was later accepted at the University of Southern California.
He then had his first credit when he voiced for the video game of Mario Golf 64 in year 1999. On the following year, he also had a voice work in Mario Tennis 64. On the other hand, his first screen acting credit was in one of the episodes of the TV sitcom called, Will & Grace. He then appeared on the show like in The Brothers Garcia, where he portrayed the role of Daddio. He also appeared as Scott Tucker in the romantic comedy film called, John Tucker Must Die, together with Brittany Snow and Arielle Kebbel. On the other hand, Badgley earned much attention when he portrayed the role of Phillip Chancellor IV on the sop opera entitled, The Young and the Restless in year 2000 up to year 2001. For his portrayal, Badgley received a nomination for a 2001 Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Daytime Series. On the following year, Badgley starred in the series called, Do Over, where he portrayed the role of Joel Larsen.
Moreover, Badgley also appeared in the horror film called, Drive-Thru, where he portrayed the role of Van, together with the stars of Leighton Meester and Nicholas D’Agosto. He then earned much attention when he portrayed the role of Sam Tunney in the TV series of The Mountain, for the year 2004 up to year 2005. However, the show has been pulled out after its first season, which also happened at The Bedford Diaries. On the other hand, in the drama series of Gossip Girl, he plays the role of Dan Humphrey. In year 2009, Badgley starred in the remake of the 1987 thriller film called, The Stepfather, where he portrayed the role of Michael Harding, together with Dylan Walsh and Sela Ward. Badgley then starred in the independent drama film called, Marjin Call, where he portrayed the role of Seth Bregman.
