Pink, who was baptized with the name Alecia Beth Moore, was born on September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. At a very young age, she was already inspired to be a rock star by his father who used to play her a guitar. Although she was a healthy baby at birth, Moore suffered from asthma when she was young.

Moore’s interest in music grew when she was a teenager. For her, writing lyrics is a way to express her feelings. At age 14, she began performing in Philadelphia clubs. This is where she has gotten into prohibited drugs, drinking and heavy partying. At age 15, Moore took a near-fatal overdose of crystal meth, angel dust, ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana. She also got involved with petty theft and trespassing.

At age 16, she formed an R&B girl group comprised of three teenage girls including her. Two years later, without much success in the studio, Choice disbanded and Reid encouraged Moore to go solo. It is around this time that she dyed her hair pink and chose the name to match. Can’t Take Me Home is the title of her first solo album, which sold three million records as fueled by three of her Top Ten singles There U Go, Most Girls and You Make Me Sick.

In 2001, Pink collaborated Lady Marmalade with other famous artists including Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil’ Kim, which was also used as the soundtrack for the movie Moulin Rouge. In the same year, the song topped the charts in several countries and became the most successful airplay-only single in history. It also gave Pink major music recognition such as MTV Music Award for Video of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Striving for a more representational sound, Pink brought in producer Linda Perry for her sophomore album, Missundaztood. Fueled by Get the Party Started and Don’t Let Me Get Me, the album immediately sold ten million copies worldwide and established Pink as a pop-rock artist. Like any other artists, Pink also suffered setbacks where her career stumbled at some point. Try This, Pink’s third album failed to scale the charts, which only resulted to 700,000 sales in the United States.

In January 7, 2006 after years of on-and-off relationship with motocross racer boyfriend, Pink finally got married with Carey Hart. In February 2008 after months of speculations, Pink announced her separation from Hart. But the two eventually managed to work on their relationship, underwent counseling and got back together in 2010. Later, Pink announced that they are expecting their first child, a girl.
