Rebecca Black is an American pop singer, who is famously known for her 2011 hit single called, Friday, was born on June 21, 1997 in Anaheim, California, to Jon Jeffrey Black and Georgina Marquez Kelly, who are both veterinarians. Her parents are of Spanish, Polis and Italian as well as English descent. The 14-year-old recording artist is an honor student at their school. In addition, Black studied dance, and even auditioned for some of their school shows. She was also involved in music summer camps and started on singing in public in year 2008, after she joined the patriotic group Celebration in USA.
In year 2010, one of the classmates of Black and a client of a Los Angeles label called, ARK Music Factory, told her about the said company. He mother spent an amount of $4,000 to the company for them to have her daughter a music video. Rebecca Black’s first single was entitled to Friday, which has been written by the ARK Company and it was first released on the renowned websites of YouTube and iTunes. The video for her song was uploaded to YouTube in late February 2011 and for its first month it earned an estimated number of 1,000 views. The video became viral on March of the same year, receiving millions of views still on YouTube. After several days, the video became the most controversial song on the social networking site of Twitter. However, the song still received lots of negative likes at YouTube. March 2011, first week sales for her single, already reached a approximate number of 40,000by the Billboard.
On the other hand, Rebecca Black made an appearance in one of the episodes of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 2011, where she performed her single. She then talked about the negative feedbacks she received from about the said song. In addition, her single still topped the Billboard Hot 100 and even in the New Zealand Singles Chart, where she took the 58th and 33rd spot. She also took the 61st spot of the UK Singles Chart.
In one of her interviews, she stated that she is currently recording a new song, which is more likely to release as a single. In addition, Black is currently working without the help of a record label. She subsequently collaborated with the comedy video website of Funny or Die, which was founded by Will Farrell and Adam McKay’s production company on April. In addition, Black was chosen by the MTV to host its first online award show called, the O Music Awards Fan Army Party on April 2011. She also appeared in the recently released music video of Katy Perry for her newest single called, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), where she appeared as herself together with Katy Perry. On July 2011, Black released a self-produced single entitled, My Moment, which has been published into her own YouTube channel. In addition, Black is set to release a digital 5-track EP in August 2011.
