Richard Jenkins is an American actor, who was born on May 4, 1974 in DeKalb in Illinois, to Mary Elizabeth and Dale Stevens Jenkins, a housewife and a dentist. Jenkins entered the DeKalb High School. He then gained a degree in drama from the Illinois Wesleyan University before he moved t the Rhode Island and while he was still in the Illinois Wesleyan School, he became one of the members of the Phil Gamma Delta. On the other hand, Jenkins debuted on film Industry in late 1974, appearing in the various film productions in 1980s as well in 1990s before he reached his fame in 2000s. He then portrayed the role of Nathaniel Fisher on the drama series of HBO entitled, Six Feet Under. He was also included in the casts of the films like The Visitor and The Cabin in the Woods.
Richard Jenkins also worked as an actor in the regional theater called, Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island, while he was breaking into film with a brief part in the 1974’s Feasting with Panthers, which is a TV made-movie. He then became a celebrated member of the said theater group and also served as a director from year 1990 up to year 1994. After Jenkins made his debut in TV film of Feasting with Panthers, he then appeared in various films like in the comedy drama film of Hannah and Her Sisters. He was also included in the casts of the 1987 horror comedy of entitled, The Witches of Eastwick. He then appeared in the 1995 How to Make an American Quilt.
Jenkins subsequently portrayed the role of Sheriff Art Moran in the 1999 film adaptation of Snow Falling on Cerdars. Jenkins also collaborated with the Coen Brothers, when he appeared in the film of The Man Who Wasn’t There in year 2001 as well in the films of Intolerable Cruelty and Burn after Reading. He also appeared in the 2005 American drama film entitled, North Country, which also includes the stars of Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand. Jenkins also appeared in the films of There’s Something about Mary, Outside Providence, and Me, Myself and Irene.
On the other hand, Jenkins was famously known for the portrayal Walter Vain in the drama film of The Visitor in year 2008, where he earned nominations for the Independent Spirit Award and for the Academy Award for the Best Actor. He also won the International Press Academy’s Satellite Award for the Best Actor-Motion Picture Drama. Jenkins was also included in the casts of the horror film of The CBIN IN THE Woods. He also portrayed the role of John Tyree in the film of Dear John, which starred Channing Tatum. In year 2011, he portrayed the role of Coakley in the comedy film of Hall Pass. Jenkins is set to appear in the upcoming remake of the Three Stooges.
