Born July 9, 1998 in Providence, Rhode Island, Robert Capron is an American child actor who s best known for starring as Rowley Jefferson, Greg Heffley’s best friend in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies.
Robert began his acting career when he was eight by enrolling in an after school drama program sponsored by Trinity Repertory Company. Later that year he landed a role as Turkey Boy in Trinity’s A Christmas Carol. Since that time, Robert has performed a variety of roles on stage. Robert has also turned his efforts to film as well as theater. His first principal role in a movie was in Bride Wars, he later earned a role as Young Dave’s Friend in the movie Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010). Robert’s role as Rowley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise is perhaps his most recognized role to date. His mother, Kaye Capron, played his character’s mother in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Looking ahead, Robert will be starring in an episode of The Haunting Hour, as well as providing voiceover work in Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, set for release in 2012.
Capron lives in Scituate, Rhode Island. Robert entered his second year of middle school as a seventh grader in September 2010.
