The 52-year-old English actor, who is famously known for the portrayal in the 1984 British film of Another Country, was born on May 29, 1959 in Northfolk, England, to Sara and Anthony Michael Everett. Everett, who was born with the real name of Rupert James Hector Everett, was raised as a Roman Catholic. At the young age of seven, he attended the Farleigh School, Hampshire and was then educated by the Benedictine monks at the Ampleforth College, Yorkshire. However, he left the said school when he was 16 and moved to London to be an actor. He worked a male prostitute for drugs and money for him to support himself. After being released from the Central School of Speech and Drama for the insubordination, he toured to Scotland, where he had a work in the Citizens’ Theater in Glasgow.
In year 1981, Everett’s break came when he was included in the production of Greenwhich Theater and West End for the Another Country, where he portrayed the role of a gay school boy, together with the star of Kenneth Branagh. He subsequently appeared in the film of Dance with a Stranger in year 1985, which also includes Cary Elwes and Colin Firth. In year 1987, he starred together with Bob Dylan in the musical drama film of Hearts of Fire. On the same year, he recorded and then released his album consists of pop song called, Generation of Loneliness.
Everett relocated to Paris n year 1989, writing a novel called, Hello, Darling, Are You Working. On the following year, he appeared in the film of The Comfort of Strangers, where he portrayed the role of Colin. He then appeared in various films. In year 1997, he portrayed the role of George Downes in the romantic comedy film of My Best friend’s Wedding, which also starred Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney and Cameron Diaz. In year 1999 he portrayed the friend of Madonna in the comedy drama film of The Next Best Thing.
Everett made a decision to write again, became a Vanity Fair contributing editor and also wrote in a film screenplay. In year 2006, he unleashed his memoir called, Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins, which revealed his affair with the TV host Paula Yates. He then became involved in some public activities, leading the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in year 2007. He subsequently portrayed a double role in St. Trinian’s.
He also appeared on TV for may times, being a contestant in the special celebrity version of the British Reality TV series of The Apprentice called, Comic Relief Does The Apprentice. He then presented the Live Earth and appeared as a guest host in one of the shows of Channel 4 called, The Friday Night Project. In May 2007, Everett carried one of the eulogies at the funeral of Isabella Blow. Everett is currently lives in London and even though he resides in London, he had a home in New York City, Los Angeles and Miami as well in Paris.
