Ryan Gosling Takes Ballet Lessons for FunRyan Gosling is taking ballet classes.  The ‘Drive’ actor has enrolled in lessons, but is doing so purely for enjoyment rather than to prepare for a new movie role.  His ballet instructor Jaclyn Behtan said that he is not taking it to prepare for a role adding he wanted to learn ballet because he love it so much.  Behtan added it is funny because he is such a dude’s dude noting that he will come in in basketball shorts, grab the bar and go.

Although he is only taking classes for himself, the ballet lessons have paid off for the sporty star with Jaclyn revealing his basketball has improved as a result.  The ballet teacher added that his turns have improved and he is a really good jumper.  She also said that he likes ballet because it makes him better at basketball.  Ryan has previously stated that actors should always have hobbies outside the film industry.  He thinks that if people did some other job, like ballet, then everyone would be much happier.

Ryan took ballet as a child and was used to always being around women.  He told the Independent that he thinks like a girl adding that he was literally raised by his mother and his sister noting that he feels like he would not know how to think any other way.  According to Gosling, his sister is his bestfriend and his hero growing up.  He said that because he was home-schooled he did not have a lot of friends and he did ballet, which was always just girls noting that all that stuff had an effect on his brain.  Also, Ryan said that he practice whenever he can.  According to him, a lot of the students are young girls so they are there with their moms but they just kind of watch and tell him to keep it up.  He said that they try and be positive but he is so bad.  He added that he does not even know what he likes about it, but it is like acting noting that he is just compelled to do it and he do it to find out why.  He said that the not knowing is interesting.

Talking about celebs, Ryan said that they have meals, they go to Pilates but it is not enough so they do drugs.  He added that if everybody had a pile of rocks in their backyard and spent every day moving them from one side of the yard to the other, it would be a much happier place.

Ryan Gosling’s ballet instructor Jaclyn “Jaci” Betham is original from Long Beach, California and the resposible of Mr Gosling’s ballet skills improvements.  She began her professional training with the San Jose Ballet, and was soon accepted into the Houston Ballet when she was fifteen years old.  Spending three years with the company, she returned to San Jose where she performed with the San Jose Opera.  She continued her work overseas winning the prestigious Grand Prix Italia Gold Metal.  Jaclyn teaches ballet at Edge Performing Arts Center, Basic Ballet Mon-Wed from 7:00 pm to 8:00pm and Beginning Ballet Sundays from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Appearing in a range of films that made him one of the most sought after actors of this generation like The Notebook, Drive and some other indie films, Ryan is a potential Oscar contender this year.  In the new political drama, Ides of March, Gosling plays the role of a presidential campaign manager opposite George Clooney who is the presidential candidate and the director of the film.  Asked about the reason he takes this role, Gosling’s answer is in a different perspective.

“A part of the reason I did the film was just to become more informed, politically,” explained Gosling. “You have a certain amount of prep time. All you are doing is researching and learning and you have access to people you would never have access to otherwise, specifically when George is involved. So it was access to that world and an opportunity to become more informed.”

The first poster of his film, Ides of March, displays Ryan’s face halved with that of George’s, the way that the story is depicted showing how the press secretary’s job fuses his character with that of the candidate he is supporting.  The movie was adapted from the play, “Farragut North,” by Beau Willimon.  Due to his exceptional performances, Gosling was anticipated to be a nominee in the annual Oscars, something he has gone through before, as he became one of the five best actor finalists for his role as a drug-addicted teacher in his film Half Nelson.

“Nobody believes in you when you’re starting out, but for a few people,” the actor notes. “You learn not to care or listen to what people think because if you did you would be too afraid to try. So you train yourself and numb yourself to other people’s opinions. Then suddenly people decide that they like what you’re doing and then they want to praise you and you’re supposed to start caring again. But if you do, you’re still taking the same risk.”

In his movie Drive, the 30-year-old actor revealed his talent for action-packed movies, which he has always wanted.  “I’ve been wanting to play a superhero, but all the good ones are taken,” he joked. “So I thought I could create my own, potentially, and that’s what we tried to do with Drive.”  Comparison is an inevitable thing since Gosling is with the renowned actor, George Clooney.  As their handsomeness have been compared, Gosling being the humble type gives the honor to his co-star.  “He’s even more handsome in person and he doesn’t wear makeup,” Ryan said.  Being a co-actor in the film, Clooney has something to say about gosling.

“There are a lot of times when a young actor with a lot of heat around them self destructs. Sometimes because the heat was very temporary, sometimes because the actor starts to buy into all of the hype; and, unfortunately, they don’t last very long. Ryan is the real deal. His head is on straight. He’s smart and he has limitless talent. He’ll be sticking around for a while, which is good news for all of us.”
