Sam Neill is a New Zealand actor, who was born on September 14, 1947 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. She is most notable for the portrayal as Dr. Alan Grant in the films of Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III. Neill was the second son of Priscilla and Dermot Neill. Neill’s family owned the Neill and Co., which is the largest liquor retailer in New Zealand. The actor returned to his family year 1954, where he entered the Anglican boys’ boarding school of Christ’s College in Christchurch. He subsequently relocated to Wellington to pursue his tertiary education at the Victoria University, where he took a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In addition, Neill, who was baptized with the real name of Nigel John Dermot, first called himself as Sam at the school in New Zealand, since there were so many people whose name is Nigel.
After Neill worked at the New Zealand National film Unit as a director and an actor, he was included in the casts of the film called, Sleeping Dogs. He then appeared in the 1979 Australian classic film of My Brilliant Career, which also includes the star of Judy Davis. His appearance on the said film, led him to be chosen to portray the role of Damien Thorn in the horror film of Omen III: The Final Conflict in year 1981. In UK, Neill became a renowned artist in the early 1980s, being included in the dramas like the Ivanhoe and the Relly, Ace of Spies. Neill has also appeared in the various films like in the 1990 thriller film of The Hunt for Red October, where he portrayed the role of Vasily Barodin.
In year 1993, Neill appeared in the film of The Piano as well as in the science fiction film of the Jurassic Park. On the following year, he portrayed the role of Norman Lindsay in the film of Sirens. He was also included in the casts of the Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book film and In the Mouth of Madness in year 1995 and in the 1999 Bicentennial Man. On the other hand, in year 2000, Neill portrayed the lead role of Cliff Buxton in the Australian film of The Dish. He then reprised his role on the third sequel of the Jurassic Park in year 2001.
In addition, Neill appeared in the 1998 film of Merlin. He then reprised his role as Merlin in the 2006 film of Merlin’s Apprentice. In addition, Neill starred in the historical drama of The Tudors, where he portrayed the role of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. He also portrayed the role of Mr. Jones in the film called, Under the Mountain. He also appeared in horror film of Daybreakers, where he portrayed the role of Charles Bromley. Neill also starred in the 2010 ABC TV production of Happy Town. On the other hand, Neill was also included in the casts of the FOX’s Alcatraz he also joined the casts of the adaptation of A View From the Bridge, which began on shooting on June 2011.
