Sam Rockwell is an American actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the Lawn Dogs and Confessions of Dangerous Mind as well in Choke and Moon, was born on November 5, 1968 in Daly City, California, to Penny Pess and Pete Rockwell. At the young age of 10, he made his stage debut, portraying the role of Humphrey Bogart in an East Village comedy sketch, which also includes her mother. In addition, Rockwell entered the San Francisco School of the Arts, together with the American actress comedian Margaret Ch. However prior to his graduation, Rockwell has been dropped out of the school. He then received his diploma in high school after his parents enrolled him in an Outward Bound-style alternative high school of Urban Pioneers.
After being included in the horror film of Clownhouse in year 1989, he relocated to New York, where he trained at the William Esper Studios. He subsequently films like the Last Exit to Brooklyn and in the film of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He also portrayed a small role in the comedy of The Search for One-eye Jimmy. Rockwell also worked as a busboy, he also delivered burritos through the used of bicycle. He also worked as an assistant of a private detective.
In year 1996, Rockwell appeared in the comedy drama film of Box of Moonlight, where he portrayed the role of “The Kid” or also known as Buck, Bucky. He was also included in the casts of the 1997 film of Lawn Dogs, where he portrayed the role of Trent. His portrayal for the film garnered him an awards for the Best Actor at the Montreal World Film Festival and the Catalonian International Film Festival. In year 1999, he portrayed the role of the prisoner William “Wild Bill” Wharton in the drama film of The Green Mile.
Sam Rockwell subsequently appeared in various films like, Galaxy Quest and in the 1999 adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where he portrayed the role of Flute and in the 2000 film of Charlie’s Angel, where he played the role of Eric Knox. He then portrayed the lead in the biographical film of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which has been directed by George Clooney. In the film, he portrayed the role of Chuck Barris, who is a successful game show host.
In year 2003, Rockwell starred together with Nicolas Cage in the film of Matchstick Men. He then appeared in the 2005 film adaptation of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He subsequently portrayed a supporting role as Charley Ford in the 2007 drama film of The Assassination of Jesse by the Coward Robert Ford, which starred Brad Pitt. In year 2009, he appeared in the fiction film entitled Moon, where he portrayed the role of Sam Bell. On May 2010, it was reported that he will be collaborating again with Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man 2, for the upcoming film adaptation of the boo k of Cowboys & Aliens. On the other hand, Rockwell recently signed to appear in the upcoming Seven Psychopaths, together with Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken and Colin Farrell.
