Sam Worthington is an Australian actor who was born on August 2, 1976 in Godalming, Surrey in the Southeastern England to Jeanne J and Ronald Worthington, a homemaker and a power plant worker. Worthington together with his family left England and moved to Perth, Western Australia, when he was at the young age of six. He grew up in Warnbro, which is a suburb of Rockingham. He has a sister named Lucinda. Worthington entered the John Curtin College of Arts, a school which is focusing in the dramatic arts. The school was said to be located in Fremantile Western Australia. His father sent him to Cairns to work for his way home. He then began on working on construction and other unusual works, he subsequently stayed in Sydney. At the young age of 19, Worthington worked as a bricklayer, when he tried out for the National Institute of the Dramatic Art (NIDA), he was then accepted and was awarded with scholarship. In addition, Sam Worthington also entered the John Curtin College of the Arts in Fremantle in Western Australia, where he studied drama. However, Worthington failed and later on left the school.

Worthington debuted in the Australian film entitled, Bootmen, in year 2000, where he portrayed the lead role of Mitchell Okden. The film garnered him a nomination for the category of Best Lead Actor by the renowned Australian film Institute (AFI) for his portrayal. On the same year, he appeared as a guest star in the TV series show of JAG, Water Rats and Blue Heelers.  He subsequently appeared in various film of Australian movies as well as TV series, which also includes a roles in the 2002 Dirt Deeds and in Getting’ Square in year 2003. He also made an appearance in the 2002 Hart’s War. On the other hand, it was said that the Dirty deeds was a critical and a financial success, which earned a total amount of $5,034,142 at the Australian box office.

Worthington portrayed the lead role in the 2004 film of Somersault as well in the modern Australian retelling of the Macbeth in year 2006. The film garnered him an AFI Award for Best Lead Actor for his portrayal on the said film. He is most notable for the portrayal of  Howard in the Australian TV series called, Love My Way, where he portrayed the love interest if the female lead star. On the other hand, Worthington portrayed the role of cyborg Marcus Wright, who will help the humans in spite the fact that the human suspects him in the film called, Terminator Salvation. He then appeared as Jake Sully in the box office hit film of Avatar. The film of Avatar was said to be the highest-grossing film of all time, earning a total amount of more than $2.730 Billion in worldwide box office. in addition, Sam Worthington was chosen as one of the entrants to the 2011 edition of Who’s Who in Australia.
