Sandra Bullock is an American actress, who is most notable for her portrayal in the 1990 films of Speed, A Time to Kill and While You Were Sleeping. She was born on July 26, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia, to John W. Bullock and Helga Meyer, a United States Army employee and a former opera singer and voice teacher. She was baptized with the real name of Sandra Annette Bullock and has entered the Washington-Lee High School, where she became a cheerleader and also performing the various school theatre productions. She also attended the East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, but she left the school shortly before her graduation to pursue her dream to be an actress. She then relocated to Manhattan and for her to support herself, Bullock worked as a bartender, cocktail waitress and a coal checker. However, Bullock has still finished her coursework and still graduated in East Carolina University. While Bullock was in New York, she had acting classed with the late actor, Sanford Meisner. It was said that Bullock has appeared in various student film before she had a role in the Off-Broadway play called, No Time Flat.
On the other hand, the director Alan J. Levi, was amazed on the acting performance of Bullock, she then offered to have a role in the TV film called, Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman in year 1989. Subsequently, Bullock was also included in the ensemble various Independent films. Bullock portrayed the lead role in the NBC TV film called, Working Girl in year 1990. She also appeared in different films like the 1992 movie called, Love Potion No. 9, where she portrayed the female lead role of Diane Farrow, alongside Tate Donovan. On the following year, she appeared in the films of The Thing Called Love and Fire on the Amazon, where she portrayed the roles of Linda Lue Linden and Alyssa Rothman, respectively. Also, in year 1993, Bullock appeared in the science fiction film entitled, Demolition Man. It was followed by her breakthrough role in the action thriller film called, Speed, where she portrayed the role of Annie Porter together with the stars of Keanu Reeves and Dennis Hopper. She then earned wide attention, appearing in the films of While You Were Sleeping and Miss Congeniality in year 2000. Bullock was also chosen as one of the actress to be included in the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, in the 1996 and 1999 issue of People magazine. She also landed in the 58th spot in Empire’s Top 100 Movie Star of All Time list.
On the other hand, in year 2002, Bullock starred together with Hugh Grant in the romantic comedy film called, Two Weeks Notice, where she portrayed the role of Lucy Kelson. On the same year, she appeared as Siddallee ‘Sidda’ Walker in the comedy drama film of Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, which also starred Ashley Judd, Ellen Burstyn and Fionnula Flanagan. Moreover, in year 2004, Bullock portrayed the supporting role of Jean in the drama film entitled, Crash, alongside Matt Dillon and Jennifer Espodito.critics gave her positive reviews for her portrayal on the said film. on the following year, Bullock starred as Kate Forster in the romantic drama film called, The Lake House, which also starred Keanu Reeves. The film was a box office hit, earning the total amount of $114,830,111, compare to its budget amounting to $40 Million. On the following year, Bullock starred together with Toby Jones in the drama film called, Infamous, where she portrayed the role of Harper Lee. Bullock was also included in the casts of the 2007 drama film entitled, Premonition, where she portrayed the role of Linda Hanson, together with Julian McMahon.
In year 2009, Bullock starred together with Ryan Reynolds in the romantic comedy film called, The Proposal, where she portrayed the role of Margaret Tate, who is a chief editor in a book publisher in New York City. The film earned a total of $314 Million, making it the highest grossing film she starred in. on the same year, Bullock starred in the semi-biographical drama film entitled, The Blind Side, where she portrayed the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy. The film also starred Quinton Aaron and Tim McGraw as well as Kathy Bates. For her portrayal on the film, Bullock earned the Best Actress at the Golden Glove, Academy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Award. In addition, Bullock is set to star together with Tom Hanks in the upcoming film called, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. She is also set to portray the role of Ryan in the 2012 film entitled, Gravity, which also includes George Clooney. The film is set to hit the big screen in November 21, 2012.
