Sofia Vergara is a Colombian actress and hostess, who is most notable for the portrayal of Cici in the comedy film of entitled, Chasing Papi. She was born on July 10, 1972 in Barranquilla, Colombia, to Margarita Vergara Davila de Vergara and Juliio Enrique Vergara Rabayo, a homemaker and produce cattle for the meat industry. She was baptized with the real name of Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara and was given the nickname of Toti by her family member and relatives as well. She was raised as a devout Catholic. After Vergara had divorce, she took pre-dentistry in a university in Colombia. Opportunities occurred in both modeling and show business. Subsequently, Vergara made a decision to move in Miamii, Florida, to grab the opportunities waiting for her.
On the other hand, a photographer has discovered Vergara while she was walking along the Colombian beach. She then soon offered to take modeling and TV works as well. However, according to the reports in an issue of Maxim, Vergara feel worried about doing her first TV commercial. Though, her Catholic schoolteachers allowed her to take the job. She then had her first appearance in one of the commercials of Pepsi, which has been broadcasted in Latin America. Vergara then relocated to Bogota, Colombia, when she reached 20 and then worker as a runway model and in TV. Moreover, Vergara became the co-host of Fernando Fiore on Fuera de serie, in year 1995 until 1998. It gave wide exposure to Vergara across the United Stated. She also co-hosted the A que no te atrieves (I Dare You). Subsequently, Vergara starred in opening of the fourth season of the HBO series called, Entourage. In addition, Vergara also posed for posters and swimsuit calendars in year 1998 and 2000 as well as in 2002.
On the other hand, Vergara was also featured in the ABC comedy called Hot Properties as well as in The Knights of Prosperity. Also in year 2002, she portrayed the role of Nina in comedy film called, Big Trouble, which starred Tim Allen and Rene Russo. On the following year, she appeared as Cici in the film of Chasing Papi. In year 2004, Vergara appeared in two films, The 24th Day and on the Soul Plane, where she portrayed the roles of Isabella and Blanca, respectively. In year 2005, Vergara was nominated for the Black Reel Award: Best Ensemble, when she appeared as Sofi in the film called, Four Brothers. In year 2008, she appeared as Cheryl in the film entitled, Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns. Vergara was also included in the casts of the 2009 film of Made Goes to Jail. Nevertheless, she appeared in the 2011 3D film of The Smurfs. In addition, Vergara is set to appear in the upcoming film of New Year’s Eve, where she would be portraying the role of Ava.
