Thomas Sangster is an English actor, who is most notable for the portrayal in the film of Love Actually and in Nanny McPhee as well as in The Last legion. Sangster was born on May 16, 1990 in London, to Anastasia ‘Tasha’ Bertman and Mark Ernest Sangster, who were both an actor and actress. He was baptized with the real name of Thomas Brodie Sangster and has a sister named Ava. In addition, Sangster knows how to play guitar and he also learned to play left-handed for him to portray properly the role of Paul McCartney in the feature film called, Nowhere Boy. On the other hand, Sangster had his first professional acting job in the BBC TV film entitled, Station Jim. He then had an appearance in various TV films, which also includes the lead roles in Bobbie’s Girl and in The Miracle of the Cards as well as in Stig of the Dump.
On the other hand, he received a Golden Nymph Award at the 43rd Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival for his portrayal in the miniseries called, Entrusted. Sangster also appeared in the romantic comedy film entitled, Love Actually, where he portrayed the role of Sam. The film was considered to be his fist major theatrical film. For his portrayal on the said film, Sangster earned a Golden Satellite Award as well as a Young Artist Award. He then appeared in the TV adaptation of the book called, Feather Boy, where he portrayed the role of the younger version of the character played by James Franco in the film version of Tristan and Isolde. Sangster subsequently appeared in the fantasy film of Nanny McPhee, where he portrayed the role of Simon Brown, together with Emma Thompson and Colin Firth as well as Kely Macdonald. In year 2007, Sangster also appeared in the third series of Doctor Who, where he portrayed the role of Timothy ‘Tim’ Latimer. On the same year, Sangster voiced the role of Ferb Fletcher in the Disney’s animated series of Phineas and Ferb.
He then again starred with Colin Firth in the film adaptation of Valerio Massimo Manfred’s book called, The Last Legion. In year 2008, it was announced that he would be appearing in one of the films of Steven Spielberg entitled, Tintin. However, it was said that Sangster left the project because of some schedule conflicts, the role then was given to is fellow star Jamie Bell. He then portrayed the role of Samuel Brawne in the 2009 film called, Bright Star, which also starred Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish as well as Paul Schneider. He subsequently appeared in the 2010 film of Some Dogs Bite, where he portrayed the role of Casey. In addition, Sangster is set to portray the role of Liam in the upcoming film called, The Last Furlon. In April 2011, he appeared as a guest star in one of the episodes of the British drama series called, Lewis. He is also set to appear in the upcoming film of The Baytown Disco, which also includes the stars of Karl Urban and Billy Bob Thornton as we;; as Natalie Martinez and Eva Longoria.
