Timothy Olyphant is an American actor, who was born on May 20, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Katherine and John Vernon Bevan Olyphant. He was raised in San Francisco and at the young age of six, he started competitive swimming. He also began training seriously in the seventh grade under the supervised of Coach Darrell Lohrke. He then became one of the contestants of the USA Swimming Short Course National Championships in year 1986. In addition, Olyphant graduated from the School of Fred C. Beyer High School. He pursued his swimming career at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he took the field of Fine art. For him to complete the final credits he is required to graduate from USC, he made a decision to move to New York City for him to study acting, rather than continue his degree in fine arts.

Olyphant started on acting in Off-Broadway productions and in year 1995, he made his professional debut in the production of the Playwrights Horizon entitled, The Monogamist, where he portrayed the role of Tim Hapgood. The play garnered him the Theater World Award for the Outstanding Debut Performance. He then appeared on the one-man play called, The SantaLand Diaries, in year 1996. On the other hand, Olyphant made his first work on TV, when he was included on the casts of the remake of the series of 77 Sunset Strip in year 1995. It was followed by the film of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in year 1996.

Olyphant also appeared in the police drama series called, High Incident, as well in the film of Ellen Foster in year 1997. He also had a role in the HBO film of When Trumpets Fade. Olyphant also appeared as a guest starring role in one of the episodes of Sex and the City entitled, Valley of the Twenty Something Guys. In year 2000, Olyphant appeared in the films of The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy and in the action film of Gone in 60 Seconds, where he portrayed the role of Det Drycoff. On the other hand, Olyphant portrayed the lead role of Sheriff Seth Bullock on the TV series of HBO entitled, Deadwood.

He also appeared in the 2001 film of Rock Star and in the 2003 film of Dreamcatcher. In year 2007, Olyphant was included in the comedy film called, Catch and Release, where he portrayed the role of the love interest of the character portrayed by Jennifer Garner. He then appeared in the action film of Live Free and Die Hard. On the following year he portrayed the title role in the film of Hitman. In year 2010, Olyphant portrayed the lead role in the remake film of The Crazies and he also started to portray the role of Raylan Givens in the series of Justified. In addition, Timothy Olyphant was recently included in the 2011 animated film of Rango, where he voiced for the role of The Spirit of the West.
