Uma Thurman is an American actress, who starred in various films, was born on April 29, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts to Nena von Schlebrügge and Robert Thurman. Uma grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, where her father worked. When she was at the young age of 15, Uma has already left her boarding house and has made a decision to be an actress, by then Thurman transferred to New York to pursue her dream.

Thurman showed her passion on Modeling when she was at the young age of 15 and signed a deal for the agency called, Click Models. Thurman became the cover girl of the renowned magazine of Vogue and it British version. On the other hand, Thurman landed in film industry when she appeared in four films in year 1988. It was said that her first two films are the comedy of Johnny Be Good and the teen thriller entitled, Kiss Daddy Goodnight. She also starred in the 1988 British comedy film of The Adventure of Baron Munchausen, where she portrayed the role of the goddess Venus. In year 1990, Thurman also starred in the sexually provocative drama of Henry & June alongside Fred Ward.

Uma Thurman tried out for the Quentin Tarantino’e classic called, Pulp Fiction, which grossed for over $107 Million. On the following year, Thurman earned a nomination for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and turned to be the favorite actress to cast of Tarantino. In year 1997, Thurman appeared together with Ethan Hawke in the sci-fi film of Gattaca, even though the fact did not success to hit the box office, it still hauled several positive reviews and turned to be successful on the home video market. She next appeared on the fourth sequel film of Batman & Robin, where she portrayed the role of Poison Ivy. Her performance on the said film, garnered mixed reviews and it was said that the critics compared her to Mae West.

After welcoming her first child in year 1998, Thurman took a break from her leading roles for her to focus on being a mother. Her following roles landed in low budgeted films, which also included the 2001 drama film of Tape and in film called, Vatel as well in Hysterical Blindness. After almost five years of break, Thurman returned in the 2003 film of John Woo entitled, Paycheck and was followed by Tarantino film called, Kill Bill.

In year 2008, Uma Thurman appeared on the romantic comedy film of The Accidental Husband together with Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. On the same year, she also starred in the film of My ZInc Bed, where she portrayed the role of Elsa. Her 2010 film of Motherhood, held a record for the biggest bomb in British cinema. In addition Thurman is set to star on the upcoming adaptation film of the 1950s novel called, Eloise in Paris, where she will be portraying a Nanny role. The film is set to direct by Charles Shyer. In addition, Thurman became  one of the judges of the recently held 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
