Zoe Saldana and her fiancé, entrepreneur Keith Britton have called it quits after nearly 11 years of being together. In a statement, Zoe’s representative said that the pair has amicably separated after 11 years noting that Saldana and Britton remain committed business partners as co-founders of fashion resource MyFDB.com and claimed that respect of their privacy is appreciated during this time.
Zoe, 33, has been really private about her relationship. People did not even know she had a serious boyfriend until she announced their engagement in June 2010. At the time, the actress told Access that Britton was very supportive of her life in the Hollywood spotlight, and that she felt he was the only person who knew the real Zoe. She announced the news last June saying Keith is a very independent soul.
According to her, she feels like the partners that stay at home, they have their lives but they are the ones that are living with the real you. She said she think that they need to be recognized, every now and then, every 10 years, just come out in public, put him on the spot and just say thank you. She claimed that he is a very independent soul and he understands what she do but this is not what he fell in love with and that is what she love. Britton, 35, proposed to the “Avatar” star last summer but they managed to keep it under the radar for the following months. She was reportedly thrilled to marry him. A source told Us magazine that they have together forever and they are a great couple.
The notoriously private star, however, opted to keep all the details to herself. A source told Us Weekly in 2010 that Zoe does not even introduce him as her fiancé noting that she will just say this is Keith. The source also said that she likes to keep her personal life to herself and wants people to focus on her as an actress. She did open up about her relationship in the September 2011 issue of Latina saying that she think the only reason they made it that long is because they did not listen to anybody but themselves. According to her, they still manage to sustain a relationship in a world where half of the people they know are divorcing or going through problems.
Just last month Zoe told Hollyscoop that planning her wedding has been a lot of work adding that it is harder to plan a wedding than directing a short movie. However, it is doubtful that the relationship didn’t work simply because it was hard to plan the wedding. Maybe that excuse could work for a couple who splits after 72 days, but not a decade long relationship.
While the Colombiana star has yet to make a direct statement regarding the split, on Friday she Tweeted a quotation from Buddha saying that you, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
