The 2012 69th Golden Globe Awards nominations were announced December 15 by Rashida Jones, Gerard Butler, Woody Harrelson and Sofia Vergara.  The awards will be presented on January 15, 2012 on NBC and the show will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.

A representative for the actress-musician Zooey Deschanel, 31, and her husband Ben Gibbard, 35, said that they have decided to end their marriage after two years of being together.  A source adds that it was mutual and amicable noting that there was no third party involved.  The two tie the knot on September 2009 near Seattle, Washington.  During their two-year marriage, the king and queen of indie music remained one of the strongest and non-controversial musician couples in the industry. While the two occasionally appeared at each other’s live shows, Deschanel and Gibbard never recorded songs professionally.

Thanks to films like “(500) Days of Summer,” “Yes Man” and her latest TV series Deschanel has been making quite the mark in Hollywood in recent years.  Ben Gibbard is the front man for Death Cab for Cutie since the indie rock band formed in 1997 in Bellingham, Washington.  In March, Death Cab for Cutie released their seventh studio album, “Codes and Keys.”  Zooey Deschanel is, of course, the annoyingly adorkable girl from the New Girl.  If you squeeze her belly, she starts giggling like a Tickle Me Elmo. However, her adorkability is apparently good for something, because the show just got picked up for another season.  The ratings have been surprisingly impressive.

The blue-eyed beauty is also one-half of indie pop duo She & Him, with guitarist and singer M. Ward. The band recently released their first holiday album, titled “A Very She and Him Christmas,” featuring several covers of classic tunes like “Silver Bells” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

Ben, who also fronts the band “She and Him” with Zooey, said in September that he thought of his wife as very beautiful.  According to him, he had seen her movies and he thought she was very beautiful adding he was awestruck that she was even talking to him.  Deschanel recently told iVillage that it was definitely hard being away from Gibbard while he was on tour.  She said that he was really good at calling and he is probably better than she is.  She added that he is a very conscientious person.

When it comes to married life, Zooey said that you could not expect to make no effort noting that you still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding because it sort of just solidifies your commitment.  The actress also shared her love for reality shows saying she love the Real Housewives especially the Beverly Hills one, Top Chef and Intervention.

Appearing in her latest show New Girl, Zooey said that she feels so happy and it is so nice since she is having the best time working on the show.  According to her, it is a dream come true noting she did not set out for that show at all and she actually had taken a couple of years off acting.  She said she was doing her music touring with her band and she was sort of looking for the next thing to do but she had not really thought about doing a network show.

The 31-year-old American actress was born on January 17, 1980 in Los Angeles, to Caleb Deschanel and Mary Jo Deschanelm a director and an actress. She was baptized with the real name of Zooey Claire Deschannel, it was said that she was named after Zooey Glass. She has the combination of French and Irish descent. She had an older sister named, Emily Deschanel, who is also an actress and one of the stars in the TV series of Bones. Even though she lived in Los Angeles, she spent most of her childhood touring because of the reason that her father shot his films on different locations. Deschanel grew up in Canada, Yugoslavia, England and South Africa. She entered the schoold of Crossroads, which is a private preparatory school in Monica, California. In addition, Deschannel also shown some passion when it comes to singing and she sang all through her high school years and is planning to have a musical theater career. Deschanel also entered the Northwestern University for only seven months before he left the school to pursue her acting career.

Deschannel appeared as a guest star in the TV series of Veronica’s Closet before she made her film debut in the 199 comedy film of Mumford, where she portrayed the role of Nessa Watkins. She was then featured in the music video for the single of The offspring entitled, She’s Got Issues. In year 2000, she appeared in the film of Almost Famous, where she portrayed the role of Anita Miller. On the following year, she was included in the film called, Manic, together with the stars of Don Cheadle and Joseph Gordon Levitt. In year 2002, she stared together with Tim Allen and Rene Russo on the comedy film of Big Trouble. Also in year 2002, Deschanel starred in the thriller film of Abandon, which also starred Katie Holmes and Benjamin Bratt as well as Charlie Hunnam.

On the following year, she portrayed the lead role in the romantic drama film called, All the Real Girls. The film garnered her nomination for the Independent Spirit for the category of Best Actress. On the same year, she portrayed the role of Jovie in the comedy film of Elf, which also includes the stars of Will Ferrell and James Caan. On the following year, she starred in the film of Eulogy, where she portrayed the role of Kate Collins. On April 2008, she starred in the comedy film of Gigantic and was followed by a role in the film of Yes man, together with the star of Jim Carrey. On the following year, Deschanel starred together with Joseph Gordon Levitt in the award winning romantic film entitled, (500) Days of Summer. She then portrayed the role of Balladonna in the 2010 comedy film of Your Highness, which also includes Natalie Portman and James Franco. On the other hand, Deschanel is set to star in the HBO pilot series show of I’m with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie, where she will be portraying the role of Pamela Des Barres. She is also set to appear in the Fox’s new show called, New Girl.
